She was working on the Japanese symbol for “Peace” and when I came home and looked it up she came really, really, close.

Boo had little time for the heat and the chalk.  She had her face painted and went straight for the trees.  I love the way they seem to form a crown.

See these books by my bedside, my journey towards maitri (loving-kindness) for myself has been difficult.  Most days as a single mother are hard.  I need my Buddhist studies to remind me that “maitri” means befriending who I am and letting go of this need for perfection.

Although, you will see my Book of Common prayer there too, along with the Tao Te Ching.  My spirit follows many paths.

  1. Isn’t it amazing how we forget to be mindful of ourselves? With other little people who need our love and attention it’s so easy to forget.

But a little goes a long, long way.

  2. Beautiful pictures and beautiful you!
Many blessings to you as you journey with your girls as a single mama, I can’t imagine that to be easy. I think we could all take a few pages from any of those books by your bedside.
    Warmly,
    Nicole

  3. hey, at least your books are stacked all pretty and neatly! my bedside table has a scattered stack for the kids,my books, one i want my hubby to read and a few i threw there because… well, i don’t know why, but they’re there.

always remember that always seeking and learning to better ones self is wonderful. those that stop have the problems 🙂

hope your kids enjoy their summer reading programs, my son has read more books then i have ever seen him read, ha ha. bribery works wonders with my son apparently 🙂

  4. ciara, thanks for the reminder.

nicole, as time goes by it gets easier, until they hit adolescence at least.

lizzie, normally that’s the way my books look too, but i just straightened them all up last weekend! now the books in the girl’s rooms, that’s a whole different story.
